Technology : The Metrum Acoustics Forte is a 2 x 50 Watt Class A/B amplifier with the first 10 Watts configured in Class A. This may not sound like much, but don't be mistaken. The Metrum Acoustics Forte has excellent control over even the most challenging speakers thanks to its sublime build quality and excellent power supply. Metrum Acoustics' goal for the Forte was to create the sound of a triode tube in the input stage without experiencing the wear that comes with tubes. Metrum Acoustics achieved this by using FET transistors in the input stage. This input stage has low gain (23 dB), is virtually feedback-free, and has a bandwidth of 300 kHz.

Listening : The Metrum Acoustics Forte is a very analog-sounding amplifier. Overall it sounds pleasantly neutral but not clinical, open and airy but not sterile. You find yourself in a large cloud of music where every detail is presented in a clear and refined manner without being aggressive.
