General : Unique bipolar loudspeaker by Mirage ( Canada ) which was produced between 1992 and 2007.

Technical : The Mirage M-3si is the successor to the Mirage M-3 and improved in several ways. This system features a Hybrid Titanium tweeter that took 2 years to develop and according to Mirage itself would be the first tweeter at the time to achieve the transparency of an electrostatic or ribbon tweeter. It is a Hybrid Tweeter since the tweeter itself is made of Titanium but the tweeter is mounted on a fabric damping system. The crossover has also been improved, with fewer components for a more natural sound and improved dispersion and balance of the overall sound reproduction. The Mirage M-3si is a bipolar loudspeaker, so you will find both a tweeter and a midrange driver on the front and back. This is to improve the stereo image, but some distance from the rear wall is desirable. The surrounds of the midrange drivers have been replaced with brand new surrounds, this was done by Total Speaker Repair in Bedum. Since the loudspeakers are quite old, they were due for replacement and now they can serve for years to come.

Listening : The Mirage M-3si sounds unique. What immediately stands out is how natural the soundstage is, there is great depth and the background is very present and lively. The sound is also wide and clear, you don't have to sit directly in front of it like with electrostatics or magnetostats to get an optimal image. The bass is beautifully deep and pure, but not too heavy. The midrange and vocals are never harsh, yet crystal clear. And the high tones are sparkling and natural. All in all, the Mirage M-3si is a loudspeaker with a very easy sound, full, pleasant and detailed. This set of loudspeakers has been fully checked and the surrounds of all midrange drivers have been replaced so this Mirage M-3si set is ready for many more years of musical enjoyment in your home.
