General : New Class A Power Amplifier from Pass

Technology : The new Pass XA-25 is an unqualified success. The technology is simpler than Pass's heavy power amplifiers, and that is precisely where the strength of this amplifier lies. Instead of a whole array of transistors for Left and Right, the A-25 has only 2 per channel. These 2 super transistors can deliver up to 700 watts together, and are therefore used very conservatively. The signal path is thus very short, and all active electronics have been reduced to the minimum. The power supply itself consists of a large Ring Core transformer and a bank of fast capacitors. The Pass XA-25 is set at 25 Watt Class A at 8 ohms, and also delivers 50 watts continuous Class A at 4 ohms. The 2 x 100 watt continuous at 2 Ohms is delivered in Class A/B. The Pass XA-25 is fully direct coupled and has no DC servos. The Pass XA-25 is a fantastic amplifier, simple and of very high quality, and that translates directly back into sound quality.

Listening : Listening to the Pass XA-25 is immediately a special pleasure. The Pass XA-25 is particularly lively and pure, more open and faster and cleaner than its big .8 series brothers, it seems. Combine the Pass XA-25 with a set of very good speakers with decent efficiency, and there's little left to wish for. One thing is certain, the Pass XA-25 gives you music, with loads of pleasure. This Pass XA-25 has only been used for demos at Ohm-Audio, and is in absolute mint condition and is completely complete. 2 Years warranty!
