General : The MB-6 is the largest and most expensive premium model from the Danish audio brand Scansonic.

Technology : The Scansonic MB-6 speakers are designed by audio whiz Michael Borresen, who previously developed speakers at Raidho Acoustics. Michael Borresen is now active at Audio Group Denmark where he is a co-owner and currently designs speakers under the brand name Borresen Acoustics. The speakers of Audio Group Denmark's more affordable brand Axxess are also designed by Michael. The idea behind the Scansonic MB-6 was to create a speaker with much of the DNA of the much more expensive Raidho speakers, but at a lower price point. Various adjustments have been made: the drivers are carbon instead of ceramic, and the tweeter is a kapton ribbon tweeter. At 141cm in height, the Scansonic MB-6 is a large speaker, but because the cabinet is narrow and deep, they appear smaller than the dimensions suggest online. The Scansonic MB-6 uses 6 smaller woofers instead of a single large woofer. This allows the MB-6 to still deliver very solid bass response, but because the woofers are smaller and lighter, the bass is faster, tighter, and better defined compared to a large and loosely suspended woofer.

Listening : The Scansonic MB-6 speakers are neutral, with a pleasant and extremely detailed sound. The harmony between the high, mid, and low frequencies is particularly striking. This provides a well-balanced reproduction where listener fatigue is not an issue. The Scansonic MB-6 requires proper placement with good toe-in due to the radiation characteristics of the ribbons. A high-quality amplifier is also highly recommended. But once properly set up and well driven, the Scansonic MB-6 delivers an impressive level of musicality in your living room or listening space.
