Technology: The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V is a completely newly developed speaker with 3 woofers. The Nova V is even slightly larger than the Serafino from the Homage series. The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V is now made from solid wooden panels which are shaped in a mold. The characteristic asymmetrical enclosure is complex, and is bent into the correct shape in one go. The Stealth bass reflex port is particularly special, and provides full and pure bass without bass boom. The units themselves are also new. The 3 larger woofers have a light cellulose cone, set in high-tech foam. So a sandwich cone. The tweeter is a silk dome, with an apex point, to suppress resonances. The midrange is also made of slowly dried paper, and features a copper-plated aluminum coil. The components in the crossover filter are also of very high quality. Thanks to the somewhat larger bass units, the Sonus Faber Nova V has a very favorable efficiency of 90dB/1w/1m. All units are secured in the real leather-covered front. Under the cabinet are stainless steel rods with excellent spikes. The new Sonus Faber Nova series is a special product. Luxury, and handmade in Italy.

Listening: We have extensively listened to the new Nova series and also to the Nova V. All new Novas sound truly beautiful. The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V sounds very much like the new Nova III but can play deeper and louder, and this Nova V is also suitable for larger rooms. The overall build and sound quality shifts quite far towards the Sonus Faber Homage series. The Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V sounds initially direct and musical. Straight out of the box they already sound relaxed, fine-grained and beautifully dynamic. After some break-in time the bass becomes increasingly beautiful and deeper. The nice thing about the Sonus Faber Olympica Nova V is that, like the other speakers from the Nova series, it simply sounds very comfortable, and that in combination with a musical tension and fine-grainedness.
