General : The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz D2 is the first power cord in the reference D2 Series from Ansuz Acoustics in Denmark (above the D2 are the D-TC2 and the D-TC Supreme). The cable is of the highest quality with high-quality gold-plated connectors in an aluminum housing and effective shielding. The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz D2 uses the unique 'Direct Ground Connector' (a technique that minimizes the ground potential between different devices, resulting in a lower noise floor) and 'Double Inverted Helix Coil' (a technique where cables are wound in a special way and configured in a double helix pattern that reduces self-inductance in the cable) technologies from Ansuz Acoustics. From the Ansuz C2 and above, including the D2, an additional technique is also applied, namely the AARC (Anti Aerial Resonance Coil) technique, which prevents the cable from functioning as an antenna (a property that all cables inherently have), thereby RFI and EMI signals are absorbed and eliminated, which in turn results in an even lower noise floor and cleaner reproduction. The AARC technique is also used in the more expensive reference cables from Ansuz Acoustics. The Ansuz Mainz D2 also uses 2 additional unique techniques, namely a dynamically charged dielectric (a special version of active shielding inside the cable) and an Active Tesla Coil. Tesla Coils are commonly found in Ansuz Acoustics due to their very musical properties, Tesla Coils are also applied in the equipment of Ansuz Acoustics' sister brands (Aavik Acoustics and Børresen Acoustics). All these techniques are applied for optimal noise suppression and grounding of the cable in a way that is not restrictive to signal transmission and has no (negative) impact on sound quality. As a result, Ansuz Acoustics cables sound very clean, transparent and stress-free. The D2 series is a clear step forward compared to Ansuz Acoustics' previous generation cables, yet they have not become much more expensive. This fact ensures that new standards are set in the price/quality ratio of Ansuz Acoustics cables.
Sound Characteristics : The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz D2 has an enormously natural and organic sound, just like all other cables and products from Ansuz Acoustics. The sound of the Ansuz Acoustics Mainz D2 is a clear step up in sound quality compared to the X2, P2, A2 and C2 series from Ansuz Acoustics. The sound is noticeably more beautiful, better defined and more spacious. The soundstage is more beautifully laid out and all performers are in their proper place. There is more finesse and music becomes a more engaging experience. Everything you hear is pure music, we could talk about the body of the bass and the detail in the highs. But with Ansuz Acoustics we don't need to talk about that, instead we talk about the enormous musical qualities that Ansuz Acoustics products bring with them. The Ansuz Mainz D2 is absolutely a good example of this, a true reference power cord. The spatial imaging is large, airy and pleasant and you are immediately engaged with the performers and the music. The time to listen to sounds is over, the time to listen to music has begun.
