The Audio Research CD-9 uses 4 separate D/A Converters, thus 2 per channel. This to improve dynamics and signal-to-noise ratio. This built-in DA Converter is extremely good, and that's why it's great that the Audio Research CD-9 is equipped with various digital inputs.
