Technical : The Cambridge Azur 851A is a high-quality amplifier that uses Cambridge's own XD class amplifier technology. Class XD is essentially a Class A/B amplifier where the crossover point at which a transistor is switched on or off has been moved to a point where the distortion that occurs when a transistor is switched off is no longer audible to the human ear. This results in cleaner reproduction with less distortion and it also sounds more like a Class A amplifier, but with the efficiency of a Class A/B amplifier. Furthermore, the components used in the Cambridge Azur 851A are of very high quality. The power supply is very stable and the housing is built to be nicely heavy and resonance-free. The Cambridge Azur 851A uses 2 pairs of parallel-connected transistors for powerful output power of 120 Watts at 8 Ohm and as much as 200 Watts at 4 Ohm. This allows almost any speaker to be driven.
