Overview.
General : The Chord M Scaler is an external upsampling unit for digital signals

Technical : The Chord M Scaler is actually built to further improve the performance of the Chord DAVE. The Chord M Scaler has various digital inputs including USB and SPDIF. The Chord M Scaler takes these signals and converts them into an ultra-high digital signal, 768KHz. This signal is then sent via 2 BNC cables to the Chord DAVE (or other DA Converters with these inputs), so the DA Converter itself no longer needs to upsample. The theory behind this is to obtain a higher degree of refined resolution from the connected DA Converter. The M Scaler itself is built from solid aluminum and has several buttons to determine the input and the output sampling frequency from 44.1KHz to 768KHz.

Listening : We were able to listen to the Chord M Scaler on the Chord DAVE. The Chord DAVE is already exceptional in itself, but with the Upscaler in between, something special happens. All positive qualities of the Chord DAVE are magnified and improved. You get an even more refined dynamics and higher resolution.
