General : This Harbeth Monitor 40 set is the first BBC reference monitor from Harbeth, made during Harbeth's 25th anniversary.

Technology : The Harbeth Monitor 40 is a large 3-way monitor loudspeaker. It looks as if it comes straight from the 1970s, but don't be fooled. The Harbeth 40 is a modern-built loudspeaker full of special techniques. Equipped with Harbeth's renowned proprietary drivers for the bass and midrange. Resulting in incredibly low distortion. The technology is relatively conventional but there is nothing wrong with that. The crossover filter is of very high quality. The cabinet walls are deliberately designed to be relatively compliant, and then damped with bitumen. The cabinet's own resonance is therefore very low. No ringing from this enclosure. The woofer is large, powerful and well damped and is supported by a pair of bass reflex ports on the front.

Listening : The Harbeth Monitor 40 is a very pleasantly sounding loudspeaker. This will undoubtedly appeal to everyone immediately.
