General : Reference Speaker from Proac UK

Technical : The Proac Response Five is a large floor-standing speaker with excellent speaker units and a unique sound. The bass units are 2 very fast 22cm woofers, which are supported by a large and very deeply tuned bass reflex system. The very important midrange drivers are reproduced by an ATC 75mm dome unit, which sounds very open and precise, without any harshness. The tweeter is a 20mm soft dome tweeter with a large resonance chamber and a hexa-wound voice coil. All units are carefully matched to each other through a very sophisticated crossover. The cabinet is large and heavily damped with lead bitumen. The Proac Response Five therefore weighs a very solid 60kg net. The input terminal of the Response Five is a Biwire Terminal with Rhodium plated connection connectors, for spades and banana plugs.

Listening : The Proac Response Five is a very mature sounding system. The bass reproduction is super deep and very beautiful in tone. Not super tight as we know from some modern systems, but instead full and tuneful. The bass reproduction matches perfectly with the reproduction of classical and jazz. Very nice to listen to. The midrange is also unquestionably of very high quality. The Response Five sounds very open and precise, and yet it has no listening fatigue whatsoever. Very open then, but never harsh. The treble integrates very well. Pure, precise and never sharp. The Proac Response Five simply sounds very live and very infectious, you keep listening. Play Bob Marley "Lively Up Yourself" on the album Live at the Rainbow Theatre and hear how live this sounds. Fantastic! This set of Proac Response Five speakers is in very good condition, and comes with the instruction manual, and is ready for many years of musical enjoyment in your home.
