Technology : The Kii Three is the masterpiece of Belgian designer Bruno Putzeys. It is a compact loudspeaker that is absolutely packed with technology. What is very special about the Kii Three is the phase-correct reproduction, without timing errors. You won't easily achieve this with a conventional loudspeaker, and certainly not as precisely as with this Kii Three. But the most remarkable thing about the Kii Three is still the bass radiation. With every conventional loudspeaker, passive or active, the bass, roughly below 200Hz, radiates all around the room. These bass tones reflect off walls and floors and amplify and weaken the bass, depending on where you are standing. In one spot the bass is too heavy, a meter further away the bass is completely gone. The Kii Three solves this problem. However, it is not simple. The Kii Three is a 3-way loudspeaker, equipped with a massive DSP, 6 DA Converters, one for each unit, and 6 analog Ncore power amplifiers of 240 watts each. Each Kii Three therefore has a rough 2000 watts of processor power on board. This is necessary to make each unit work together with the other units, without timing errors and phase shifts. You preferably connect the Kii Three via the Kii Control, to your Streamer, such as the excellent Antipodes streamers, via USB, or your Sonos Connect via Spdif, but there are also analog inputs available. Via the Controller, the digital signal runs over a UTP cable to one speaker and then via a UTP cable through to the other speaker. Connect power cable, and play. The design of the Kii Three is unique and very special, and you can hear that clearly too.

Listening : The Kii Three can be placed excellently in almost every room we know. Because the Kii Three barely involves the room in the music reproduction, we can achieve optimal results almost anywhere. The first thing that stands out is the bass reproduction. This is very deep and clean, and without overhang. The bass starts and stops very quickly and is noticeable everywhere in the room. The second thing that stands out is the dynamics. You can play quite loud with the Kii Three. Taps on a drum set sound lifelike in your living room. The third thing that stands out is the purity of the system. The Kii Three sounds very clean, without sounding glassy. It doesn't matter if you are now playing Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock or for our taste rock-hard Metal or Dubstep, the Kii Three swallows it all, without protest. We know of no other compact loudspeaker that performs like this. If you take the new purchase price into account, € 10.950,00 for a pair of Kii Three, where the DA Converters, preamp and 6 power amplifiers are already built in, then this is an absolutely favorable purchase. Many less well-thought-out High End designs struggle with so much musical quality.
