General : The Lumin U1 Mini is a high-end streaming transport, identical to the U1 with the exception of the internal shielded power supply and the cabinet material.

Technology : With the Lumin U1 Mini transport, Lumin offers owners of a high-quality D/A converter the opportunity to stream music at the highest quality. This Lumin component offers a variety of digital outputs and is based on the high-end S1 streamer, but optimized for digital outputs. The Lumin U1 Mini differs from the U1 because of the shielded internal switching power supply and the cabinet material used.

After years of requests from existing high-end DAC owners, the Lumin team took the best components from the high-end S1 streamer and specially developed them for digital processing and output. The use of a new special Lumin U1 processor adds Upsampling and Downsampling for every supported format - from 44.1 kHz all the way to DSD256 - and provides maximum DAC compatibility and optimization.

The Lumin U1 Mini offers you five different digital outputs, including the new USB Digital Out. Supported are DSD up to 256 11.2MHz 1-bit and PCM 44.1 - 384kHz 16-32-bit audio files. Internally there are four crystal clock oscillators with extremely low phase noise. The U1 supports DoP (DSD over PCM) via optical, coaxial (RCA and BNC) and AES/EBU outputs. A Gigabit network connection and a ground connection are also available. The luxurious, precision-cut aluminum housing and a clear, easy-to-read display enhance the streaming experience.

The Lumin U1 Mini streaming transport is equipped with all the conveniences and features that have made the brand so beloved and famous. From MQA to DSD, from FLAC to WAV, this Lumin streamer plays all high-resolution files for you. With support for TIDAL, Qobuz, Spotify and AirPlay, you can choose from millions of tracks. Sound : We connected the Lumin U1 Mini to the Bricasti M1SE and compared it with other sources, such as the Antipodes EX, CX, DX and the Bricasti M5 streamer. In terms of sound, you can say that the Lumin U1 Mini handles the delivered bits very well. The Lumin U1 Mini sounds open, pure and precise. The Bricasti M5 delivers a fuller and more luscious sound. The Antipodes EX goes even further with regard to resolution and purity, especially in combination with the Antipodes CX, but then we're also talking about the absolute top. For the asking price, the Lumin U1 Mini is an exceptionally good value, because the Lumin U1 Mini can play music standalone, without a server, from Tidal, Qobuz and Spotify, and that is unique.
