General : The Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition is the second-largest model in the Homage series. The Serafino sits between the Guarneri Tradition standmounts and the Amati Tradition floor-standing speakers. We know all Sonus Faber Homage models very well, and this Serafino is a welcome addition to the Homage program.

Technology : For the new Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition, a number of new technologies have been developed, and new speaker drivers have also been designed and built. In principle, the Serafino is a slightly more compact version of the Amati Tradition. The cabinet is made of non-resonant laminated wood and is truly beautifully finished with a gorgeous dark wengé wood veneer. This veneer is then often lacquered for a sleek high-gloss look. When creating the speaker drivers for the Serafino Tradition, Sonus Faber has also chosen drivers made from natural materials. The bass woofers are a lightweight sandwich cone made of paper with a foam core. Very fast, stiff and without annoying resonances. The midrange driver is a neodymium-driven cone, also made of paper with a foam core. The tweeter is a large (28mm) Neodymium-driven D.A.D. (Damped Apex Dome) silk dome tweeter. The D.A.D. technology ensures that the tweeter produces less distortion and can also play significantly louder if needed. The dedicated compartment where the tweeter sits is milled from a solid block of wood and prevents the tweeter from being affected by resonances from the other drivers. The woofers are slightly smaller than those of the Amati Tradition, 180mm instead of 220mm, but are of the same high quality. The bass section is supported by a very pure Stealth Ultra Flex bass port. Not a single whistling port, but multiple oval ports that channel the energy out of the cabinet in a dispersed and calm manner.

Sound : The Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition has a very spacious, pleasant and detailed sound. While older Sonus Faber speakers could sometimes sound a bit woolly, the Serafino Tradition plays in an easy, open and modern way without losing the emotional transmission that Sonus Faber is known for. Listening to Sonus Faber speakers is always a musical pleasure. You quickly forget about the technology and are almost immediately focused on the music. The Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition is a true full-range system, designed for normal to large listening rooms; even in more compact spaces with good acoustics, the Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition can fit perfectly. They are not showboats with a 'look what I can do' sound; they are speakers with a highly refined and balanced tonal character. That said, you can certainly play beautiful electronic recordings or large orchestral works loudly through them, as the Serafino Tradition handles this excellently. The efficiency of this Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition is above average, and even with amplifiers that don't have enormous power output, this Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition performs superbly. The spaciousness of the Sonus Faber Serafino is fantastic. Fast and open with a very large 3D soundstage. The Sonus Faber Serafino Tradition is a very beautiful and reasonably compact floor-standing speaker but thanks to its superb construction, it is easy to integrate into any interior.
