General : Bricasti from the USA originally manufactures digital High End products for the professional world. The Bricasti M1 SE is the SE version of the M1 Classic, the first of a series of High End products from the manufacturer. It is one of the first fully Dual Mono constructed DA Converters in the world.

Technical : The Bricasti M1 SE MDx is built with CNC machined aluminum sections and heavy aluminum plates. You will not find sheet metal here, but exclusively resonance-free plates. Even the top plate and bottom plates are machined. All to benefit sound quality. All parts are heavily anodized and provided with text by laser inscription. Built to an ultra-high standard and very long lifespan. The Bricasti M1 SE MDx is a fully Dual Mono and Dual DAC constructed DA Converter. That means truly 2 Mono 24 Bit PCM and 2 discrete DSD DA Converters in 1 housing. Via the remote control, there are over 10 different digital filters available, including the latest Apodizing Filters (Minimum Phase) and faster linear filters. The Bricasti M1 locks onto all frequencies from 16bit 44.1KHz to 24bit 384KHz and on 256DSD and DXD Files. Various digital inputs are available. AES/EBU, Toslink, SPDIF, BNC, and USB 2.0. New is the optional UTP input which provides direct access to the built-in Bricasti M5 Network streamer with Roon. Your Roon server sees the Bricasti M5 as RAAT (Roon Advanced Audio Transport) and plays the music data directly via the built-in Roon player. The best results are achieved if you connect the Bricasti M1 Classic or M1 SE directly to the Direct Stream Output of, for example, the excellent Antipodes Music streamer. If you choose the version with the built-in Streamer, you can also connect the M1 with a network cable. The digital signal with the music then comes in via the UTP input and is converted by the built-in streamer to PCM or DSD. The Analog output stage is a pure Class A discrete output stage built on ultra-expensive Arlon boards. By default this is set to 2 Volts, but the jumper can also be moved so that the output voltage of the balanced output can be set from 0.5 Volt to 17 Volt. Also, an excellent clock has been used for the conversion. An ultra-low 6 picosecond jitter value is the result.

Sound : The Bricasti M1 SE MDx is a D/A Converter of the highest quality. The new MDx digital input board, with its much more powerful processor and better clock, is a real improvement in terms of sound. The sound of the Bricasti M1 SE is completely analog, there is no trace of digital harshness anymore. With the MDx board, the sound has become somewhat faster and more dynamic and also clearly more open. The soundstage is enormous and exciting. There is a lot happening. The vocal reproduction is also very special. Pure in construction, and very precise placement. The artists appear live before you. Very special.
