The Doepke DFS 2 F and DFS 4 F are Audiophile RCD circuit breakers used in top-tier audio systems. An RCD circuit breaker is a safety switch that detects when current flows to earth, for example when a child inserts a metal object into an outlet. The RCD circuit breaker detects this and switches off the entire circuit group. Very safe indeed, but a standard RCD circuit breaker is disastrous for audio performance. Power speed is greatly reduced, and the sound image collapses. Normally we therefore connect the Gigawatt G16A Dual meter cabinet breaker in a circuit group before the RCD circuit breaker. The current then bypasses the RCD circuit breaker entirely and cannot cause any sound degradation. In an average audiophile setup we see that the power cable is connected to only a single or double breaker, exclusively for the audio system or video installation. Therefore the risk of someone inserting a metal object into an outlet is small, but still present. For those who want maximum quality in their power circuit, the Gigawatt G16A without an RCD circuit breaker is the best solution, but for those who also want maximum safety, they should connect the Doepke DFS 2 F or DSF 4 F before the Gigawatt G16A breaker. The Doepke DFS then provides earth-leakage protection, and the Gigawatt G16A provides short-circuit protection.
