Technical : The Mark Levinson No.331 is a large and heavy high-end stereo amplifier from the 1990s. It borrows technology from the iconic massive No.33 mono amplifiers from Mark Levinson. The Mark Levinson No.331 is a powerful amplifier that remains very stable down to 2 Ohms. This makes it ideal for challenging speakers. On the side you'll find enormous aluminum cooling fins to dissipate heat, and the rest of the chassis is very solidly built. It is a fully balanced amplifier, so using XLR connectors is really the intended way to get the No.331 to perform at its best. If you want to connect the amplifier with RCA, you are required to put jumpers in the XLR inputs to short them. Everything about the Mark Levinson No.331 is of the highest quality, the components used are very high-grade, and the No.331 also features a stable and powerful linear power supply with enormous toroidal transformers. Transformers in the plural, because the No.331 is fully dual mono design with left and right channels completely separated, each with its own power supply.

Listening : The Mark Levinson No.331 exudes authority with its large and solid appearance, and you'll hear that authority in the sound as well. The No.331 has complete control over virtually all speakers you connect to it. The spatial imaging is expansive, refined, and clear. The overall tonal balance is spot-on. The bass is sublime, firm, and controlled. Voices and instruments sound natural and lively with a pleasantly warm character. And the high frequencies are rich in detail yet very pleasant to the ear. The Mark Levinson No.331 is an amplifier you can listen to for hours on end without getting tired. But you can also play drum solos and electronic music powerfully without the sound being disturbed or distorted, as long as you connect good speakers to it, of course.

This Mark Levinson No.331 is in excellent condition, with only minimal signs of use and otherwise undamaged. The amplifier was completely inspected and serviced in October 2017 by importer Reference Sounds, documentation is available.
