The Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage is the first loudspeaker in the Homage series from Sonus Faber. This Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage is unique in its construction, appearance and sound. As the first in the world, the Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage featured a lute shape instead of a square enclosure. It is no coincidence that the Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage is included in the New York Museum Of Modern Art. The Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage is made from strips of solid walnut wood. Between each strip there is a layer of ebony, which is black, hence the black stripes on the cabinet. This layer of ebony provides better resonance distribution. The rear is made of a single block of maple, and the connections and bass port are mounted on a cast aluminum block. On the inside of the Guarneri Homage, small pieces of lead and copper are placed in several locations to allow the cabinet to sound completely natural. The outside of the enclosure is lacquered 10 times, with the same lacquer that violin maker Giuseppe Guarneri used for his instruments. The crossover filter is a 6dB filter which guarantees phase-coherent reproduction. The drivers used are equally special. A long-throw Audio Technology woofer with an enormous magnet, and the Dynaudio Esotar tweeter, which is equipped with a massive wooden rear as a resonance chamber. The Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage stands on a dedicated metal stand with a natural stone base. The stand is filled with special sand for optimal resonance control. The whole is made very exclusively and the sound of the Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage is very special. The Sonus Faber Guarneri Homage sounds very open and fresh, and especially very natural.
