General : The Sonus Faber Minima Amator II is a 35 Year Anniversary product from Sonus Faber.

Technology : The Sonus Faber Minima Amator was in 1987 a groundbreaking mini speaker. A compact ultra high-quality monitor loudspeaker, with a surprisingly deep and high-quality bass reproduction. Very good indeed. Now at the end of 2019, the Minima Amator II comes to the market. The Minima Amator II had to and would become a clearly better loudspeaker than the first series and Sonus Faber has accomplished this with the help of the latest materials and proprietary units and filter techniques, just like the Electa Amator III. The cabinet is again made of solid walnut wood strips, which are blended together by means of a copper plate to the again solid walnut wooden base plate. The optional stands are the same Carrara stands that also serve the Electa Amator III, and these are damped black aluminum columns filled with dampening granules, which by means of a copper plate are again attached to the walnut wooden bottom. The Carrara stand is a high-quality stand with a beautiful natural stone base plate. The Minima Amator can also be placed on the Unicum stands from Sonus Faber, which normally are positioned under the Chameleon. The units are the best units currently built by Sonus Faber. A fast and very musical 150mm paper/composite woofer/midrange with a strong magnet, and the renowned 28mm tweeter, with a DAD damper and its own resonance chamber. The sensitivity is somewhat higher than that of the original Minima Amators, and hearing-wise the new Minima Amator II has made an enormous leap forward.

Listening : We hoped that the Sonus Faber Minima Amator II, just like the Electa Amator III, would inherit some of the qualities of the original Minima Amator and we are not disappointed. This speaker sounds truly musical. Like the Electa Amator III, the big brother of the Minima Amator II. The Sonus Faber Minima Amator II sounds immediately calm, grand and gripping, and also fast and pure. It is clear to hear how this Sonus Faber Minima Amator II simply sounds better than the original versions, while maintaining the charm. The treble for example is silky smooth, but also supertransparent and with extremely much detail. The bass is full, warm and simply very beautiful. The Electa Amator has a comparable sound but sounds somewhat grander and deeper in the bass. It is truly incredible how quickly you will enjoy the music when listening to this new Sonus Faber Minima Amator II. This set is now permanently available at Ohm-Audio bv for a musical demo.
