Technology: The Spendor A1 is the most compact loudspeaker in Spendor's A series. With its dimensions of 305mm Height x 178mm Width x 165mm, this Spendor A1 feels particularly at home in smaller listening rooms. You can place the Spendor A1 on any cabinet, shelf or stand. We sell the Spendor A1 with perfectly matched and great-sounding stands with glass base and spikes. Fill these with sand to reduce resonances. Prefer no stands? No problem, this Spendor A1 can also be delivered without them. The highs are handled by a 22mm Soft Dome tweeter, extremely fast and dynamic, yet very controlled and warm. The Spendor A1 is equipped with a 150mm Mid/Bass unit, made from the EP77 polymer cone material specially developed for this line. The cabinet of the Spendor A1 has thin side panels with low mass. Each panel is connected with a visco-elastic damping pad that dissipates all energy into imperceptible heat. This results in less cabinet pressure and fewer resonances from the sound. Very well thought out and also extremely important for speakers of this size.

Listening: The Spendor A1 sounds much larger than they actually are. The bass is punchy and rolls effortlessly from the speakers. Of course, you cannot expect these Spendor A1s to deliver the energy of a large monitor speaker or floor-standing loudspeaker. Yet the entire room is well filled with music that has a lively soundstage. You find yourself in a bubble of sound rather than hearing the speakers individually. The highs are very lively, clean and open. The midtones are powerful and detailed. Voices are warm and at the same time free from coloration. Voices and instruments are excellently separated and presented realistically. The Spendor A1 is the ideal speaker for people who don't want overly large speakers but still want exceptionally good sound, while being able to place the speakers anywhere in the room without problems.
