Technical : The VTL MB185 is a very solid mono power amplifier. Equipped with high power 6550C tubes. There are 6 pieces of 6550C tubes in each block, and these run on a low setting, so they last very long. The VTL MB185 is switchable between the 2 x 130 Watt Triode setting, and the 2 x 230 Watt Tetrode setting. All tubes were replaced in 2017 with new 6550C tubes, matched by Wim van Kraanen. The driver tubes are 12AT7, and these too have been replaced with Mullard NOS tubes. The phase inverter is a Sylvana 6350 NOS, and this is also new. All tubes have been renewed in 2017, and the amplifiers have been optimally adjusted for a long service life. Replacing and adjusting tubes is very simple with the VTL MB185 Signature

Listening : The VTL MB185 Signature have excellent sound quality and they can also drive difficult speakers perfectly. If you set the VTL MB 185 signature to Triode mode, you get a very nice 3D image, lots of glow and imaging accuracy. In our opinion the best sounding mode with many speakers. If you set the MB185 Signature to Tetrode mode, it sounds more dynamic. A matter of taste and matching with the connected speakers. In both cases you get a very believable sound image, grand and striking. Listening to the VTL MB185 Signature is a pleasure.
