The Gigawatt Power Strips and Power Conditioners are passive power conditioners. Unlike competitors, Gigawatt does not make ordinary power filters but High Tech Power Conditioners. A power filter often does little more than filter out impurities from the power grid, often with heavy transformers, but at the same time puts a brake on the music. The audible result may be more quietness, but the speed and tension have disappeared from the music. According to Polish Gigawatt, this could be better. The Gigawatt Power Conditioners and Power Strips do it differently. All Gigawatt units use compact ultra-fast filter sections, small fast units that do not affect the speed of the current whatsoever. They do this on many fronts, and simultaneously. Additionally, the models store a certain amount of energy, which does not reduce the speed of energy delivery, but actually increases it, and together with a significantly increased quietness in the sound image.
Several models of the Gigawatt Evo series (PC-2EVO+, PC-3EVO+, PC-3 SE EVO+ and PC-4 EVO+) are equipped with 3 separate, advanced power buffers with very high capacity. All Gigawatt models make your system sound not only cleaner and more spacious, but also more dynamic than without the Power Conditioners. Fast dynamic jumps are absorbed from the Power Conditioners, after which the buffers recharge themselves. From the PC-2 Evo+ onwards, all models have 3 independent zones, each with their own filter block. The PowerPrime has 3 separate zones, but they all share the same filter block. The Power Strips have 6 parallel connected outputs. Gigawatt's Power Conditioners consume very little energy themselves, as they are passive devices. A maximum of 10 watts while the unit delivers 4600 Watts. For reference, a competing Power Plant delivers only 1500 Watts, but also consumes 1500 Watts itself, totaling 3000 Watts. Such a device can sound good with components, but delivers too little power to amplifiers, becomes hot, wears out and therefore consumes double the amount of energy.
All Gigawatt models have built-in overload protection. This is done by high-quality UltraMOV Varistors, not sound-limiting fuses. You will not find fuses in any Gigawatt device, as these limit current flow and thus also the sound. Sudden power spikes (up to 1000 volts) in the grid are blocked so that your valuable hi-fi equipment is not damaged. A safe idea.
