General: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz X-TC3 is the newest and second most affordable powercord from Ansuz Acoustics from Denmark. The Ansuz Mainz X-TC3 replaces the Mainz P2, the letter 'P' is no longer used in the new range of Ansuz Acoustics. The new Mainz X-TC3 belongs to the Steel Series from Ansuz Acoustics. The Steel Series from Ansuz is called the Steel Series because the gold-plated connectors are housed in a stainless steel (CRES 316) enclosure. The predecessor of the Mainz X-TC3, the Mainz P2, had connectors in an aluminum enclosure. And for Ansuz Acoustics this presents a problem. Audio Group Denmark (of which Ansuz is part) is constantly investigating different materials. Titanium, Copper, Stainless Steel and even Zirconium are frequently used. Ansuz is working to completely avoid aluminum in its new products. Aluminum has a negative effect on sound, it creates an artificial tone due to its resonance behavior and it induces hysteresis. Instead of solving the problems caused by aluminum later, Audio Group Denmark chose to address the problem at its source and therefore no longer use aluminum in its products. The conductors are silver-plated and are stripped by a special machine to avoid damaging the conductor surface. The Ansuz Mainz X-TC3 is a very stiff twisted cable which ensures less noise in the conductors and improved mechanical stability. With the Ansuz Mainz X-TC3 compared to the Mainz X3, in addition to the solidcore main conductors, 8 smaller 0.3mm² conductors are used which are wound in a double Helix pattern. These smaller conductors are called the Double Inverted Helix Coils (DIHC). The Ansuz Mainz X-TC3 is hand-made at the Audio Group Denmark factory in Aalborg, Denmark.

Sound Characteristics: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz X-TC3 has a natural, powerful and spatial sound. The bass is deep, tight and rhythmic and the dynamics are excellent. The Ansuz Mainz X-TC3 clearly has more body and calmness in the sound compared to the already outstanding Ansuz Mainz X3 powercord. There is more happening in the soundstage and you hear more layers in the recording. The sound is transparent as it should be but it is not unnecessary spectacle, this is characteristic of the Ansuz sound which all Ansuz cables possess. Everything you hear is pure music; we could talk about specific details and accents. But with Ansuz Acoustics we don't need to discuss that; instead we talk about the tremendous musical qualities that Ansuz Acoustics products bring with them. The Ansuz Mainz X-TC3 is absolutely no exception here. The spatial imaging is large, airy and pleasant and you are immediately involved with the performers and the music.
