GENERAL.
General: The Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk powercord is a high-quality powercord that is cut from the roll by the meter. Each conductor in the Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk consists of 10 strands of OFHC copper which together provide a total cross-sectional area of 2.0mm². It is thus a semi-solidcore cable, not hundreds of extremely thin strands, but instead 10 thick OFHC copper strands. This gives you the acoustic properties of solidcore conductors, but the flexibility of a stranded cable. The Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk can be used to make your own powercords, which is what the PowerSync Bulk is designed for. However, it is also possible to use the PowerSync Bulk as an installation cable, in which case it is a more flexible alternative to the stiff Gigawatt LC-Y Evo which uses 4.0mm² solidcore conductors. As an installation cable we still recommend the Gigawatt LC-Y Evo, but in homes where the LC-Y Evo must be pulled through a conduit with many right-angle bends etc., the Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk is an excellent alternative.
To make powercords you can order NL Schuko, C15 IEC or C19 IEC connectors from Gigawatt. These are available with nickel-plated connectors, gold-plated connectors or Rhodium connectors.
The Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk also contains 7 loose, unshielded copper strands, which are connected to the cable shielding. The intention is to connect these to the ground conductor on the outlet side, thereby actively connecting the shielding to ground. On the other side of the cable you cut off these 7 loose strands so you don't suffer from a ground loop. If you use the Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk as an installation cable, you connect the loose strands to ground on the meter cabinet side, and on the other side you cut off the unshielded strands again. If you want to use the Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk as a powercord, you connect the unshielded strands to the NL Schuko connector which goes into the wall outlet, at the other end where you mount an IEC connector, you cut off the unshielded wire again.
Sound characteristics: The Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk sounds very expressive and transparent, but with a refined and natural character. For the price, it is an extremely well-constructed cable. As an installation cable we still recommend a pure solid-core cable such as the Gigawatt LC-Y Evo, but the Gigawatt PowerSync Bulk comes very close.
