General: Bricasti from the USA originally manufactures digital high-end products for the professional world. The Bricasti M1 Series 2 is the latest DA Converter from Bricasti for the consumer market.

Technology: The Bricasti M1 Series 2 is built with double-format CNC milled aluminum sections and heavy aluminum plates. You will not find sheet metal here, but exclusively resonance-free plates. Even the top plate and bottom plates are milled. All to improve sound quality. All parts are heavily anodized and inscribed with text via laser engraving. Built to ultra-high standards with a very long lifespan. The Bricasti M1 Series 2 thus has a completely new housing, and the electronics have also been renewed. The power supply is entirely new and larger than before. The housing sits on Stillpoint feet with ball decoupling. The Bricasti M1SE has 2 completely separate DA conversion and output sections. That means truly 2 Mono 24 Bit PCM and 2 discrete DSD DA Converters in 1 housing. Via remote control, over 10 different digital filters are available, including the latest Apodizing Filters (Minimum Phase) and faster linear filters. The Bricasti M1 Series 2 locks on all frequencies from 16bit 44.1KHz to 24bit 384KHz and on 256DSD and DXD Files. Various digital inputs are available. AES/EBU, Toslink, SPDIF, BNC, and USB 2.0. Optionally, there is a high-end network player UTP input which provides direct access to the built-in Bricasti M5-like network streamer with Roon support. The best result is achieved when you connect the Bricasti M1 Classic or M1 SE directly to the Direct Stream Output of, for example, the excellent Antipodes or Aavik music streamer. If you choose the version with the built-in streamer, you can also connect the M1 with a network cable. The digital signal with the music then comes in via the UTP input, and is then converted to PCM or DSD by the built-in streamer. The analog output stage is a pure Class A discrete output stage built on expensive Arlon boards. By default, it is set to 2 Volts, but the jumper can also be moved so that the output voltage of the balanced output is adjustable from 0.5 Volt to 17 Volt. You can thus also connect an amplifier directly to it. Also, an excellent new clock has been used for the conversion. An ultra-low 6 picosecond jitter value is the result. The new OLED display is versatile and very easy to read, even from a distance.

Sound: The Bricasti M1 Series 2 is a DA Converter of the highest quality. That becomes clear quickly. The sound difference with the Bricasti M1/M1SE is clearly audible. The new digital input board, with its much more powerful processor and even better clock, is a real improvement sonically. The sound of the Bricasti M1 Series 2 is completely analog, there is no trace of digital harshness anymore, but the M1 Series 2 is also faster, more dynamic and even more open than the M1 and M1 SE. The soundstage is enormous, pure, and exciting. There is a lot going on. The vocal reproduction is also very special. Pure in construction, and a very precise placement. The artists appear live before you. Very special. It is increasingly noticeable that you are no longer listening to the technology, but are only busy with the performance of the performers.
