Technology: The Meitner MA3 is a very clever and well-thought-out design, not only in its versatility but also in the techniques employed. Particularly noteworthy is that all incoming signals (PCM and DSD) are upsampled to DSD1024 using the same technology from the fully discrete 1-bit DAC circuit found in Meitner's flagship D/A Converter model, the DA2 V2, which costs € 32,500. With multiple digital inputs, you can connect virtually any digital source to the Meitner MA3. It is also possible to stream directly to the Meitner MA3. The MA3 is compatible with both Roon Ready and DLNA applications such as MConnect. For playing high-res Tidal MQA files, an MQA decoder is also built into the MA3. Finally, there is a lossless volume control in the Meitner MA3 so you can also connect it directly to power amplifiers. All in all, the Meitner MA3 is packed with technical highlights and is very versatile.

Listening: The Meitner MA3 has a particularly honest sound. Extremely detailed and free from coloration. Especially with acoustic recordings, the true 'live feeling' stands out. Voices sound very clean and rich in emotion, and the soundstage is well-defined. The Meitner MA3 also holds its own with electronic music, delivering an assertive, lively, and tight presentation. The bass is firm and deep, but doesn't interfere with the rest of the reproduction. The Meitner MA3 sets new standards in its price range, especially when you realize that the Meitner MA3 is essentially 3 devices (Streamer/DAC/Preamp) in one chassis.
