General: The Bricasti M3 is the latest DA converter from Bricasti USA

Enclosure: Bricasti USA has understood very well that vibrations in electronic equipment can completely change the operation of components and thus compromise sound quality. Every unit Bricasti makes is therefore constructed from vibration-damped aluminum parts, which are machined to extremely precise specifications by CNC machinery. Not only the attractive front panel, but all other chassis parts of the M3 are CNC machined. This guarantees a very sturdy, stable and vibration-free enclosure in which the electronic components perform exactly as they should.

Power Supply: The components used in the Bricasti M3 are all of top quality. There is a dual on-board power supply with 2 transformers and many separate power supply lines. One power circuit serves all digital components and another power circuit is exclusively for the analog electronics. The power supplies are linear, not switched. Linear and discretely regulated power supplies still sound better than switched power supplies, according to Bricasti.

D/A Conversion: The DA conversion in the Bricasti M3 uses 2 completely separate circuits. All PCM signals are upsampled and converted by a highly accurate 24-bit ADI 1955 Delta Sigma PCM DA Converter with a highly accurate 8ps clock. PCM signals remain PCM signals and are therefore not converted to DSD. Converting to DSD may seem appealing and is commercially attractive, but it comes at the cost of signal purity. For DSD, the Bricasti M3 features Bricasti's own discrete 1-bit pure analog DSD converter. This DSD conversion is the best possible method of converting DSD signals and is sonically unmatched. If desired, you can also have DSD files converted by the ADI 1955 converter. The digital filters in the Bricasti M3 are dual-configured. You can choose between Linear filters for maximum dynamics or minimum phase filters for the most vivid playback and more precise 3D imaging.

Analog: The analog output buffer is a Class A output amplifier, separated for the balanced XLR outputs and the RCA outputs. Sonically an excellent solution and very reliable. The Bricasti M3 contains an analog volume control circuit. If desired, you can drive power amplifiers directly with the Bricasti M3. The analog output can deliver 8 volts. The volume control is adjustable from -60 dB to +8dB. At 0dB position, the Bricasti M3 switches the analog volume control out of the signal path, making it a direct DA converter output without the extra buffers.

Remote: The Bricasti M3 can optionally be equipped with the new aluminum remote control. Since the Bricasti M3 has a beautiful large and very clear Dot Matrix display, you can easily operate the M3 remotely. All functions can be controlled. Volume, balance adjustment, filters, converters, etc. This remote control is also made from billet aluminum and is a pleasure to use.

Network Player: The Bricasti M3 can optionally also be equipped with a network player with a UTP input. In fact, the Bricasti M5 network player is built into the M3. You can then use the Bricasti M3 as a streaming endpoint in Roon, Audirvana or JRiver.

Listening: The Bricasti M3 has many features of the award-winning Bricasti M1 and M1SE Classic D/A Converters. The sound is largely similar. A very pure and differentiated sound character reveals itself, and the music unfolds calmly and precisely. The Bricasti M3 has a completely analog sound character.
