General : The McIntosh MC152 is the most affordable power amplifier from McIntosh. Nevertheless, it is a large, stable and heavily built power amplifier, suitable for many types of systems.

Technology : The McIntosh MC152 is a very solidly built and stable power amplifier with distinctive technologies. The McIntosh MC152 offers both a balanced and an unbalanced input, which can be switched using a small switch on the rear panel. A unique feature of McIntosh amplifiers is that McIntosh uses autoformers in transistor amplifiers, and the MC152 is no exception. This keeps the transistors cooler and makes them more efficient in power consumption. The output transformers of McIntosh also have 3 taps for 8 Ohm, 4 Ohm and 2 Ohm speakers, so the amplifier can deliver full power at any impedance. The fact that the McIntosh MC152 barely gets warm is due, in addition to the autoformers, to the heat sink fins on the side of the amplifier, which were developed by McIntosh itself. For protection, the McIntosh MC152 features 'Power Guard', which ensures that the amplifier cannot clip, so your speakers are not at risk. In case of overvoltage or short circuit, the McIntosh MC152 has a built-in fuseless protection called 'Sentry Monitor'. By not using melt fuses, the current is virtually not restricted, which benefits the sound quality.
