General: The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest is an ethernet cable on a roll that is cut to length. This cable is an ideal and affordable upgrade compared to a standard CAT7 cable. The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest is ideal for use as a cable from the router in the meter cabinet towards the switch or streamer in your audio setup. The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest fits through standard conduits and can also be placed in crawl spaces. Additionally, the AudioQuest CAT700 Forest can be used as an ethernet cable between switch and streamer in shorter lengths.

Technical: What makes the AudioQuest CAT700 Forest better than standard ethernet cables relates to a few factors. First, the shielding: the outer jacket is made from a specifically selected type of PVC that is waterproof, which means the CAT700 can also be placed in crawl spaces. The shielding of the conductors themselves is a Hard-Cell Foam insulation, a special type of foam that is injected with nitrogen. The Hard-Cell Foam insulation ensures that no interference is picked up by the conductors, which in turn reduces distortion. The 8 conductors are packed in pairs in a metal foil, with a metal braid around it. You can attach this braid to the source side of the CAT7 connector to actively connect the shielding to the connector, making the shielding even more effective. The conductors are solid-core conductors, made from highly pure 0.5% silver-plated LGC copper.

Sound Characteristics: Compared to a cheaper standard ethernet cable, the AudioQuest CAT700 Forest delivers clearly better performance. The sound is purer, more detailed, and less cloudy. Bass is tighter and the soundstage is better defined.

The AudioQuest CAT700 Forest is in stock at Ohm-Audio B.V. from the roll and can be cut to length. For the connectors, we recommend the Telegärtner connectors, which are easy to assemble yourself without special tools (we can send you instructions via photos). Alternatively, we can also assemble AudioQuest's smaller and more affordable connectors. If you want to assemble these yourself, you will need a special AudioQuest crimper for this.
