General: The Serafino G2 is the latest version of the Serafino speakers from Italian brand Sonus Faber. The Serafino is the smaller sibling of the Amati-series from Sonus Faber. The Amati-series has been around longer and is now at G5 (generation 5), while the Serafino-series is younger, which is why it is now a G2. The technologies are from the 5th generation of Sonus Faber. The Serafino G2 is an improved version of its predecessor, the Serafino Tradition.

Technology: The cabinet of the Serafino G2 has remained largely the same compared to its predecessor, the Serafino Tradition. The wood veneer is now finished in a V-shape on the top and the round plate with the Sonus Faber logo has been replaced by a more subtle 'SF' logo. What has been retained is the Stealth Ultra Flex bass port on the rear, which not only ensures good dispersed airflow at the back but also provides structural integrity to the cabinet. Most improvements have been applied to the technical side of the speakers. New is the improved crossover that Sonus Faber calls the 'Phase Coherent Crossover', which is made with only high-quality components that are hand-soldered. The midrange driver has been completely redesigned with a 150mm midrange driver featuring a specially designed phase plug for the diaphragm, which ensures minimal turbulence and a more consistent music wave pattern, resulting in smoother frequency response and better articulation. The two 180mm bass woofers per speaker are powerfully driven by a Dual Drive Neodymium magnet system for optimal, powerful and controlled bass reproduction.

Listening: The Sonus Faber Serafino G2 is by far the most effortless-playing Serafino from Sonus Faber. The Serafino G2 takes another step further in terms of clarity, transparency and detail compared to the Serafino Tradition. Although the sound of the Serafino G2 is dynamic, transparent and lively, the sound is still pleasant as we are accustomed to from Sonus Faber. There is an agreeable calm over the sound and there is a natural but not exaggerated warmth present. The more modern Serafino G2 simply sounds tighter in the bass, more articulated and honest in the midrange, and more refined and precise in the treble.
