General : Superbly built and very analogue-sounding digital amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics in Denmark. The Aavik I-280 is the mid-range model of the I-series from Aavik Acoustics. The I-280 sits between the I-180 and the I-580.

Technology : The Aavik I-280 is a very powerful amplifier. With its 2 x 300 Watt into 8 Ohm and even 2 x 600 Watt into 4 Ohm, it effortlessly masters all loudspeakers. Thanks to the resonant mode power supplies and tesla coil technologies from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics used in the amplifier, the noise floor of the Aavik I-280 is extremely low. You quickly hear this in the silence of the soundstage. The housing is also an important aspect. The housing is made of a natural composite material that provides natural resonance behavior and therefore a less technical sound. The Aavik I-280 has a very generous red dot display that is easy to read from the listening position, and a very pleasant volume control. For people who do not like large displays, the display can be dimmed or even switched off completely.

Sound : What we are used to from class D amplifiers is tight dynamics and a neutral, rhythmic sound. Yet they often lack a bit of musicality, something that not only says: "wow, that sounds impressive”, but also something that invites you to keep listening. At some point, after getting used to a certain sound, the "wow factor” disappears, and what should remain is music, because that is ultimately what it is all about. The Aavik Acoustics amplifiers are so far the first class D amplifiers where we feel that we are not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but that is also very musical and gives a fascinating, intriguing and above all beautiful sound. The Aavik I-280 first of all simply sounds very pleasant. Relaxed, spacious, and a huge 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very clearly audible and the atmosphere is conveyed well to the listener. The Aavik I-280 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets everything be heard, but there is also a certain calm and comfort over the sound. The sound is therefore perfectly balanced and the overall picture simply adds up. So in terms of dynamics, the Aavik I-280 perhaps goes further than most class A (tube) amplifiers, but that is not what it is ultimately all about. It is about sound quality, and to what extent an amplifier is able to convey emotions. And conveying emotions is where Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik I-280 is pure emotion, through and through. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik range, and the I-280 is a full-fledged member of the family.

Conclusion: The Aavik I-280 is a unique integrated amplifier with generous output power (2x300 Watts continuous) in a compact, lightweight and stylish housing with fantastic sound quality. Operation is very simple and superfine. Welcome to the musical and emotional world of Aavik Acoustics. This Aavik I-280 is part of a remaining stock. The amplifier is brand new and unused and is supplied in the original packaging.
