The Avantgarde is a large, 3-way horn speaker system with enormous high efficiency. The efficiency of the Duo Omega is as much as 107dB. A 2 x 10 watt amplifier therefore already provides sufficient power even for very large rooms. They achieved this through several very special techniques. The star of the Duo Omega is the large midrange horn. This 67cm horn is driven by a very special midrange driver. A 170mm softdome. This softdome is driven unfiltered, and covers the range of 170Hz – 2000Hz. Thanks to the horn construction, the frequency range is automatically limited. The midrange unit itself is the latest generation Omega Drivers, and is driven by an Alnico magnet. Very expensive, difficult to process but with a major impact on sound quality. The bass is actively driven, and is reproduced by 2 heavy 20cm long stroke woofers, with Neodymium magnets for speed, in a closed enclosure. The bass is fully adjustable, both in terms of strength and frequency range. With this you can adjust the midbass in your room exactly as desired. The treble horn is an aluminum Omega driver, a metal dome, without compression chamber. The entire construction is very well thought out, and sonically it opens up new worlds for you. The Avantgarde Omega does not sound like a typical horn speaker. Horn coloration is simply absent. You notice an enormously large soundstage, filled with truly the finest details. Things you didn't notice before are suddenly presented as a matter of course. Very special. The bass goes very deep, and is tight, musical and contoured. Thanks to the closed enclosure. The Avantgarde Duo Omega is above all a complete and very musical loudspeaker. Drive the Duo Omega with a small amplifier, such as the Avantgarde Model 3, or a beautiful tube amplifier, such as the 2 x 8 watt Audio Note Conqueror, and you can enjoy music at the highest level.
