General : Beautiful set of monitors from Swedish Guru. Small in size, big in sound.

Technology : The Guru Q10 owes its greatest character to a number of different techniques. The relatively small 102 mm woofer makes an extra long stroke to move even more air. The large cabinet volume and the bass reflex port on the front help support the woofer. This allows the Guru Q10 to reproduce tones down to 30Hz, which is exceptionally low for a speaker of this size. However, to achieve this frequency, it is important that the speaker be placed against a wall, which is no problem at all, according to Guru. This woofer also features a special mineral fiber membrane. Guru itself states that the use of this material is necessary because the woofer has a wide working range and also handles a large portion of the mid-high. Furthermore, the 20.5 mm soft dome tweeter handles the highs, extending all the way to 30kHz.

Sound : The Guru Q10 was originally intended to be a studio monitor. However, the character of the Q10 is more musical than ultra precise. Perhaps precisely because it allows the natural coloration of the recording to come through in the playback. Furthermore, the Guru Q10s sound incredibly spacious, something you wouldn't expect from a speaker of this size.
