General : The Pass Labs XP-20 is a reference-class preamplifier built in 2 chassis.

Technical : Normally, the power supply of an audio device and the remaining electronics are housed in the same enclosure. However, a power supply can cause interference. Therefore, the Pass XP-20 is equipped with an external power supply. Moreover, this power supply is now built much more robustly than, for example, the power supply of the Pass XP-10 preamplifier. The lower enclosure contains all power supplies, which may cause interference. The upper enclosure contains only all very sensitive audio electronics. The Pass Labs XP-20 is 100% balanced in construction, from input to output. Thanks to the fully separated circuits, the Pass Labs XP-20 sounds considerably better and more refined than the already excellent XP-10. You hear details you have never heard before. The XP-20 has sufficient XLR and RCA inputs for an extensive High End Audio system. At the output, both XLR and RCA outputs are also available, which may be used simultaneously. The volume control itself is fully balanced, electronic and loss-free. This Pass Labs XP-20 is the latest version of the XP-20, with Auto Gain. The Pass XP-20 automatically switches from Low gain to High gain.
