General: Large 2-Way high-end magnetostatic speakers from Analysis Audio.

Technology: The Analysis Audio Amphitryon are handcrafted in Greece, the cabinet is made of solid HDF and they have a very distinctive yet aesthetically refined look. A design that is particularly beautiful for magnetostatic planar speakers. In terms of specifications, the Analysis Audio Amphitryon are not the easiest speakers to drive, but once connected to a quality amplifier with adequate power (including tube amplifiers) you will find that everything becomes easier and smoother than expected. This is due to the very stable impedance and the wide range of 2-meter-high ribbons that direct sound much more forward than cone and dome tweeters, and therefore remain louder and more stable when listening from further away. In fact, if you play a standard speaker and the Analysis Audio Amphitryon both at 86dB from 1 meter away, at 4 meters distance the standard speaker measures 74dB while the Analysis Audio Amphitryon still measures 80dB. This is a difference of 6dB, or twice as loud as the ordinary speaker. This also results in a smoother 6dB per octave crossover where the low, mid and high tones remain in balance at a distance and sound as they should.

Listening: The Analysis Audio Amphitryon sound extremely refined and detailed, and most importantly, very sophisticated. These Amphitryons deliver an enormous soundscape with beautiful and dynamic music. The Analysis Audio Amphitryon never sounds aggressive, always sensitive. The bass goes much deeper than some cone speakers and remains crystal clear. You can safely sell your subwoofer. The soundstage of the Analysis Audio Amphitryon is huge! Enormously large and lively, everything is placed precisely in the right spot and the Analysis Audio Amphitryon deliver a real live experience.
