General : The Borresen 02 is the smallest floor-standing speaker from the '0' series of Borresen Acoustics. A true high-end sound experience in a modest size with a super tight and very beautiful and slender design.

Technology : The Borresen 02 has a very well-thought-out design. The cabinet features a rigid HDF baffle, and the Borresen 02 has a clean and screw-free design. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured by Borresen themselves in-house. The drivers and tweeter used are completely unique. The dipole planar ribbon tweeter is made from a special type of foil and has a moving mass of just 0.01 grams (!), and is driven by fast and extremely powerful Super-Neodymium N52 magnets. The tweeter is located in its own compartment in the cabinet, which is ventilated through two ventilation openings on the sides and 1 port on the rear of the speaker. The two 4.5" bass/midrange cones are made from a 4 millimeter thick 'Nomex Core' design with two layers of non-woven carbon fiber produced by Japanese manufacturer 'Toray', a high-tech manufacturer that also produces parts for Formula 1 cars and the aerospace industry. Like the tweeter, the cones are driven by a Super-Neodymium N52 magnet. The combination of both a light moving mass and a powerful N52 Neodymium drive ensures extremely fast acceleration and stopping power of the units, resulting in a fast, open, and very uncolored reproduction. The materials used result in extremely low self-inductance, which means very little distortion or resonance occurs. The Borresen 02 is an open system, but thanks to the smart use of diffusers at the bass port, the bass port does not emit large sound waves with high energy toward the wall. Instead, the sound waves are broken up and reduced, which results in reduced energy output from the bass port. This allows you to place the Borresen 02 about 50cm from the rear wall without the bass resonating or dominating. The Borresen 02 is equipped with 3 Ansuz Darkz T2S decouplers between the base plate and the cabinet itself. For optimal results, we recommend also placing Darkz from series T2 or higher under the feet.

Versions : There are 3 versions available of the Borresen 02, but our demo set is the special Cryo version in Walnut

- The Cryo version. This version has the same construction as the standard version. However, the drivers and crossover components are now cryogenically treated. The components are cooled over 24 hours to -196 degrees Celsius, then remain at this temperature for 24 hours before being brought back to room temperature over another 24 hours. The entire process therefore takes 72 hours. The internal molecular structure changes through this process, and stress in the materials is relieved. The conductivity of the metal is also increased by 6-8% and inductance is reduced by 6-8%. The result is that you get a more transparent, more direct, and more detailed reproduction.

Information about Cryo Treatment

Listening : The Borresen 02 Cryo sounds like no other speaker of this size. So controlled, so spacious, so refined and free of resonance, at any volume. It immediately becomes clear that we are dealing with a very special speaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there is an enormous sense of calm to the whole. You immediately find yourself in the space where the performers are, whether it is a small studio, a large hall, or even a stadium. The Borresen 02 Cryo captures the atmosphere very accurately. The Borresen 02 Cryo can play quite loud, and even at the highest volumes, the sound image remains stable and pleasant to listen to. However, it is not a disco speaker, so for very loud-listening audiophiles we have wiser choices. Besides high volumes, you can of course also perform very well with the Borresen 02 Cryo at low volumes. Due to the very low moving mass of the ultra-light tweeter and midrange/woofers, you will also hear every detail at quiet music at room volume and see the spatial image. The Borresen 02 is a completely unique speaker, made for the true music lover, for evening after evening of listening to music at the highest level.
