GENERAL.

General: The Borresen 02 is the smallest floor standing loudspeaker from the '0' series of Borresen Acoustics. A true high-end listening experience in a modest format with a sleek and beautifully refined design.

Technical: The Borresen 02 features a thoughtfully engineered design. The cabinet has a rigid HDF baffle, and the Borresen 02 is a clean and screw-less design. The drivers and crossovers are manufactured by Borresen in-house. The drivers and tweeter used are completely unique. The dipole planar tweeter is made from a special foil and has a moving mass of just 0.01 grams (!), and is driven by fast and extremely powerful Super-Neodymium N52 magnets. The tweeter is housed in its own compartment in the cabinet which is ventilated through two side vents and 1 port on the back. The two 4.5" Bass/Mid cones consist of a 4 millimeter thick 'Nomex Core' design with two layers of non-woven carbon fiber produced by Japanese manufacturer 'Toray', a high-tech manufacturer that also produces parts for Formula 1 racing cars and the aerospace industry. Like the tweeter, the cones are driven by a Super-Neodymium N52 magnet. The combination of low moving mass and powerful N52 Neodymium drive results in extremely fast acceleration and stopping force from the units, delivering rapid, open, and extremely clean reproduction. The materials used ensure extremely low self-inductance, which results in minimal distortion or resonance. The Borresen 02 is an open system, but through the clever use of diffusers at the bass port, the port does not expel large sound waves with high energy toward the wall. Instead, the sound waves are dispersed and reduced, resulting in decreased energy output from the bass port. This allows you to place the Borresen 02 as close as 50cm from the rear wall without causing bass resonance or dominance. The Borresen 02 is equipped with 3 Ansuz Darkz T2S decouplers between the base plate and the cabinet itself, and 4 Ansuz Darkz C2T decouplers are placed under the base plate. 7 Darkz units in each 02, which can be expanded with additional decouplers if needed.

Versions:

There are 3 versions available of the Borresen 02

- The standard 02 is available in stock. This version has the T2S decouplers between the cabinet and the floor plate.

- The Cryo version. This version is constructionally identical to the standard version. However, the drivers and crossover components are cryogenically treated. The components are cooled to -196 degrees Celsius over 24 hours, then remain at this temperature for 24 hours, after which they are brought back to room temperature over 24 hours. The entire process takes 72 hours. The internal molecular structure changes through this process, and stress is removed from the materials. Metal conductivity is also increased by 6-8% and inductance is reduced by 6-8%. The result is a more transparent, direct, and detailed reproduction.

- The Silver Supreme Edition. This version is identical to the Cryo version, but features hand-cast and CNC-machined pure silver induction rings in the drivers. These dramatically change the properties of the drivers, very much for the better. Inductance is so much lower that distortion is 40% lower. The Silver Supreme Edition versions sound, in the best way possible, otherworldly.

Listening: The Borresen 02 sounds like no other loudspeaker of this size. So controlled, so spatial and so refined and free from resonance, at any volume. It immediately becomes clear that we are dealing with a very special loudspeaker. The reproduction is very precise and realistic, yet at the same time there is an enormous sense of calm throughout. You are immediately placed in the space where the performers are, whether it's a small studio, a large hall, or even a stadium. The Borresen 02 is able to convey the atmosphere very accurately. The Borresen 02 can play quite loud, and even at the highest volumes, the sound image remains stable and pleasant to listen to. In addition to high volumes, of course, you can also enjoy very low volumes with the Borresen 02.
