General: The Magnepan MG .7 is Magnepan's smallest full range speaker, and it is a beauty.

Technology: The Magnepan .7 is a planar dipole speaker that truly makes music. The MG .7 is a perfect example of ultra high-end reproduction at a ridiculously low price. Where dynamic speakers move air with cones and domes, the Magnepan MG .7 moves air across a large surface area. It is a 2-way quasi ribbon. Similar technology to electrostatic transducers, but without the associated electronics such as high-voltage modules and power supplies. In the MG .7, the voice coil runs through the foil, and this foil is driven directly by it.

Listening: What is special about the Magnepan MG .7 is the extremely airy and pure reproduction, which ordinary speakers simply cannot achieve, except at extremely expensive systems. The MG .7 is relatively large, 127cm tall and 42cm wide, but it is only 4 cm deep and due to its light weight it is easy to move. Optimally place the Magnepan MG .7 70cm-100cm from the wall, and after listening you can easily slide the MG .7 back to the wall if desired. Once accustomed to the distortion-free sound, it is difficult to go back to ordinary dynamic speakers. Once you get used to Magnepan, always Magnepan? It seems that way.
