General: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz D3 is the latest cable in the D-series from Ansuz Acoustics from Denmark. The Ansuz Mainz D3 replaces the Mainz D2. The new Mainz D3 belongs to the Copper Series of Ansuz Acoustics. The Copper Series of Ansuz is called the Copper Series because the gold-plated connectors are housed in a solid copper enclosure. The predecessor of the Mainz D3, the Mainz D2, had connectors in an aluminum enclosure. And for Ansuz Acoustics, that is a problem. Audio Group Denmark (under which Ansuz falls) is constantly researching different materials. Titanium, Copper, Stainless Steel and even Zirconium are used very frequently. Ansuz is working to completely avoid aluminum in its new products. Aluminum has a negative effect on sound, it imparts an artificial tone through its resonance behavior and induces hysteresis. Rather than solving the problems caused by aluminum later, Audio Group Denmark has chosen to address the problem at the source and no longer use aluminum in its products. The conductors are silver-plated and stripped by a special machine to avoid damaging the conductor surface. The Ansuz Mainz D3 is a very stiffly twisted cable which reduces noise in the conductors and improves mechanical stability. In addition to the solidcore main conductors, the Ansuz Mainz D3 uses 24 smaller 0.3mm² conductors which are wound in a double Helix pattern. These smaller conductors are called Double Inverted Helix Coils (DIHC). The Ansuz Mainz D3 thus has more conductors than the X3 and the X-TC3 and the same number of conductors as the Mainz A3 and C3. Furthermore, Ansuz Anti Aerial Resonance Coils (AARC) are applied in the Mainz D3. Because the Ansuz Mainz D3 also features the AARC technology, and to a much greater extent compared to the Mainz C3, less noise reaches your equipment than with the Ansuz Mainz C3, A3, X-TC3 and X3. The Ansuz Mainz D3 is handmade at the Audio Group Denmark factory in Aalborg, Denmark.

Sound Characteristics: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz D3 has a natural, powerful and spatial sound. The bass is deep, tight and rhythmic and the dynamics are excellent. The Ansuz Mainz D3 is a true reference cable. Compared to the Mainz C3, the Mainz D3 has more engagement, more space and simply a more interesting sound. The sound moves and lives even more and is much more engaging to listen to. There is more happening in the soundstage and you hear more layers in the recording. The sound is transparent as it should be but it is not unnecessary spectacle, which is characteristic of the Ansuz character that virtually all Ansuz cables possess. Everything you hear is pure music, we could talk about certain details and accents. But at Ansuz Acoustics we don't need to do that, instead we talk about the enormous musical qualities that Ansuz Acoustics products bring with them. The Ansuz Mainz D3 is absolutely no exception to this. The spatial imaging is large, airy and pleasant and you are immediately involved with the performers and the music. The time to listen to sounds has passed, the time to listen to music has begun.
