General : Excellently built and very analog-sounding digital amplifier from Aavik Acoustics from Denmark. The Aavik I-580 is the flagship model of the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The Aavik I-580 is the model above the I-180 and I-280 from Aavik Acoustics.

Technology : The highly advanced technology in Aavik amplifiers is unique. Aavik Acoustics manufactures digital amplifiers with an analog heart. The waveform is modulated with a sine wave, and this provides a much finer reproduction than triangle modulation. The damping is high and the control over the speakers is optimal. The power supply is very generously dimensioned and always calculated for the task. Another important aspect is the natural enclosure. The enclosure of the Aavik I-580 is the most unique of all models in the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The enclosure itself is made from a natural composite material, so no hard and cold aluminum. On top you will find a beautiful titanium cross which, besides looking good, also controls the resonance of the cabinet, resulting in a more natural and slightly warmer sound than the models without the titanium 'X' incorporated in the top plate. What also makes the Aavik I-580 stand out above the other models in the I-Series is that the inside of the I-580 is made of solid copper, which reduces hysteresis to an absolute minimum, which sonically ensures that the music has more energy, power and liveliness. Aavik Acoustics has put much work into the resonance-free design of the enclosure, and that translates directly into sound quality. The Aavik I-580 has a very generously dimmable display on the front which is easy to read from the listening position and a very fine volume control. Everything has been thought of. You can optionally place Darkz Resonance Control resonance dampers from Ansuz Acoustics under the Aavik I-580 in case you don't have an anti-resonance Hi-Fi furniture. If you have multiple Aavik Acoustics devices, these are stackable using ceramic or titanium balls, on which a Darkz Resonator from Ansuz Acoustics can then be placed. This way multiple devices take up minimal space without affecting each other through vibrations. The technical construction is highly advanced and uses various techniques from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. For example, the Aavik I-580 contains extensive Noise Reduction, the most extensive Noise Reduction of all models in the I-Series. The Aavik I-580 has no fewer than 72 Active Tesla Coils and 240 Active Square Tesla Coils. These Tesla Coils extract various electromagnetic radiation from the air and in the enclosure, ensuring a clean and undistorted music signal inside the amplifier. There are also 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils in the Aavik I-580. Anti Aerial Resonance Coils are a kind of conductor wound around the leads from the output of the final stage to the speaker connections. These reduce the last bit of pollution that would otherwise head towards the speakers. The digital electronics have no fewer than 11 Dither circuits. The power consumption is very favorable. The Aavik I-580 consumes only 0.5 watts on standby, and in music mode the consumption is 50 watts Idle. Technically, Aavik Acoustics amplifiers are the crème de la crème of digital amplifiers, and not only that. They are, in our opinion, the first Class D amplifiers with 100% analog character without a trace of harshness, and where even after long listening sessions, no listening fatigue is induced.

Sound : What we are used to from Class D amplifiers is tight dynamics and a neutral and rhythmic sound. Yet there is often something missing—musicality, something that not only says "wow, that sounds impressive," but also something that invites you to keep listening. At some point, after getting used to a certain sound, the "wow factor" disappears, and what must remain is music, because after all, that's what it's all about. Aavik Acoustics amplifiers are so far the first Class D amplifiers where we feel that we are not just listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but also very musical and delivers a captivating, intriguing and, above all, beautiful sound. The Aavik I-580 simply sounds very fine. Relaxed, spacious, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very audible and the atmosphere is well conveyed to the listener. The Aavik I-580 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets you hear everything, but there is also a certain calm & comfort that surrounds the sound. The sound is thus perfectly balanced and the overall picture simply fits. Dynamically, the Aavik I-580 may go further than most Class A (tube) amplifiers, but that's not ultimately what it's only about. It's about sound quality and the extent to which an amplifier is capable of conveying emotions. And conveying emotions is where Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik I-580 is pure emotion. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik Acoustics range, and the Aavik I-580 is by far the finest member of the family.

Conclusion : The Aavik Acoustics I-580 is a unique integrated amplifier with generous output power (2x300 Watts continuous) and a formidable built-in DAC and fantastic sound quality. The Aavik I-580 sounds by far the most detailed, defined, organic and spacious of the I-Series. The control is very simple and superfine, the format is compact and the weight is easy to handle. We don't know of any other amplifier with so much power in such a compact, light and especially beautiful enclosure that sounds so incredibly good.
