General : Excellently built and very analog-sounding digital amplifier from Aavik Acoustics from Denmark. The Aavik I-580 is the top model of the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The Aavik I-580 is the model above the I-180 and the I-280 from Aavik Acoustics.

Technology : The very advanced technology in Aavik amplifiers is unique. Aavik Acoustics makes digital amplifiers with an analog heart. The waveform is modulated with a sine wave, and this provides much finer reproduction than triangle modulation. The damping is high and the control over the speakers is optimal. The power supply is very generously dimensioned and always calculated for the task. Another important aspect is the natural enclosure. The enclosure of the Aavik I-580 is the most unique of all models in the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The enclosure itself is made from a natural composite material, so no hard and cold aluminum. On the top you will find a beautiful titanium cross which, in addition to looking good, also controls the resonance of the cabinet resulting in a more natural and slightly warmer sound than the models without the titanium 'X' integrated into the top plate. What also sets the Aavik I-580 apart from the other models in the U-Series is that the inside of the I-580 is made of solid copper, which reduces hysteresis to an absolute minimum, which sonically ensures that the music has more energy, power and liveliness. Aavik Acoustics has put a lot of work into the resonance-free design of the enclosure, and that translates directly into sound quality. The Aavik U-580 features a very generously dimmable display on the front that is easy to read from the listening position and a very fine volume control. Everything has been thought of. If desired, you can optionally place Darkz Resonance Control resonance dampers from Ansuz Acoustics under the Aavik I-580 in case you don't have an anti-resonance Hi-Fi cabinet. If you have multiple Aavik Acoustics devices, they can be stacked using ceramic or titanium balls, on top of which a Darkz Resonator from Ansuz Acoustics can then be placed. This way multiple devices take up minimal space without influencing each other through vibrations. The technical design is very advanced and makes use of various techniques from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. The Aavik I-580 contains extensive Noise Reduction, the most comprehensive Noise Reduction of all models in the I-Series. The Aavik I-580 has as many as 72 Active Tesla Coils and 240 Active Square Tesla Coils. These Tesla Coils extract various electromagnetic radiation from the air and in the enclosure, ensuring a clean and undistorted music signal inside the amplifier. There are also 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils in the Aavik I-580. Anti Aerial Resonance Coils are a type of conductor wound around the cables from the output stage to the speaker connections. These reduce the last bit of contamination that would ultimately reach the speakers. The digital electronics have as many as 11 Dither circuits. Power consumption is very favorable. The Aavik I-580 consumes only 0.5 watts in standby, and in music mode the consumption is 50 watts idle. Technically, the amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are the cream of the crop among digital amplifiers, and not only that. In our view, they are the first Class D amplifiers with a 100% analog character without a trace of harshness and with no listener fatigue even after extended listening sessions.

Sound : What we are used to from Class D amplifiers is tight dynamics and a neutral and rhythmic sound. Yet there is often a lack of musicality, something that not only says: "wow, that sounds impressive", but also something that invites you to keep listening. At some point after you get used to a certain sound, the "wow factor" disappears, what must then remain is music, because that is what it's all about. The amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are so far the first Class D amplifiers where we feel that we are not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but also something that is very musical and produces an engaging, intriguing and above all beautiful sound. The Aavik I-580 first of all simply sounds very nice. Relaxed, spatial, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very clearly audible and the atmosphere is well conveyed to the listener. The Aavik I-580 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets you hear everything, but there is also a certain calm & comfort hanging over the sound. The sound is perfectly balanced and the overall picture is simply correct. Dynamically, the Aavik U-580 may go further than most Class A (Tube) amplifiers, but that is not ultimately what it is all about. It's about sound quality, and to what extent an amplifier is capable of conveying emotions. And conveying emotions is where Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik I-580 is pure emotion without reservation. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik Acoustics range and the Aavik I-580 is by far the most premium member of the family.

Conclusion : the Aavik Acoustics I-580 is a unique integrated amplifier with generous output power (2x300 Watts continuous) and a formidable built-in DAC and fantastic sound quality. The Aavik I-580 sounds by far the most detailed, defined, organic and spatial of the I-Series. Operation is very simple and super refined, the format is compact and the weight is easy to handle. We don't know any other amplifier with so much power in such a compact, light and especially beautiful enclosure that sounds so incredibly good.
