General: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz A3 is the latest cable in the A-series of Ansuz Acoustics from Denmark. The Ansuz Mainz A3 replaces the Mainz A2. The new Mainz A3 belongs to the Copper Series of Ansuz Acoustics. The Copper Series of Ansuz is called the Copper Series because the gold-plated connectors are housed in a solid copper casing. The predecessor of the Mainz A3, the Mainz A2, had connectors in an aluminum casing. And for Ansuz Acoustics, that is a problem. Audio Group Denmark (where Ansuz falls under) is constantly investigating different materials. Titanium, Copper, Stainless Steel and even Zirconium are frequently used. Ansuz is working to completely avoid aluminum in its new products. Aluminum has a negative effect on sound, it gives an artificial tone through its resonance behavior and creates hysteresis. Rather than solving the problems aluminum causes later, Audio Group Denmark chose to address the problem at the source and no longer use aluminum in its products. The conductors are silver-plated and are stripped by a special machine to avoid damaging the conductor surface. The Ansuz Mainz A3 is a very stiffly twisted cable which reduces noise in the conductors and improves mechanical stability. With the Ansuz Mainz A3, in addition to the solid-core main conductors, 24 smaller 0.3mm² conductors are also used, which are wound in a double Helix pattern. These smaller conductors are called Double Inverted Helix Coils (DIHC). The Ansuz Mainz A3 thus has more conductors than the X3 and the X-TC3. The Ansuz Mainz A3 is hand-made at the Audio Group Denmark factory in Aalborg, Denmark.

Sound Characteristics: The Ansuz Acoustics Mainz A3 has a natural, powerful and spatial sound. The bass is deep, tight and rhythmic and the dynamics are excellent. The Ansuz Mainz A3 clearly has more body and peace in the sound compared to the already outstanding Ansuz Mainz X3 and X-TC3 powercords. More happens in the soundstage and you hear more layers in the recording. The sound is transparent as it should be, but it is not unnecessary spectacle; you recognize this in the Ansuz character that actually all Ansuz cables possess. Everything you hear is pure music. We could talk about certain details and accents, but with Ansuz Acoustics we don't need to; instead we talk about the enormous musical qualities that Ansuz Acoustics products bring.
