General: Excellently built and very analog-sounding digital amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics from Denmark. The Aavik U-580 is the flagship model of the U-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The Aavik U-580 is the model above the U-180 and U-280 from Aavik Acoustics.

Technology: The highly advanced technology in Aavik amplifiers is unique. Aavik makes digital amplifiers with an analog heart. The waveform is modulated with a sine wave, providing much finer reproduction than triangle modulation. The damping is high and control over the speakers is optimal. The power supply is very generously dimensioned and always calculated for the task. Another important aspect is the natural housing. The Aavik U-580's enclosure is the most unique of all models in Aavik Acoustics' U-Series. The enclosure itself is made from a natural composite material, so no hard and cold aluminum. On top you'll find a beautiful titanium cross which, in addition to looking good, also controls the resonance of the cabinet, resulting in a more natural and slightly warmer sound than models without the titanium 'X' integrated into the top plate. What also sets the Aavik U-580 apart from other models in the U-Series is that the inside of the U-580 is made of solid copper, which reduces hysteresis to an absolute minimum. This gives the music more energy, power and liveliness in terms of sound. Aavik Acoustics has put much effort into the resonance-free design of the enclosure, and this translates directly into sound quality. The Aavik U-580 features a very generously dimmable display on the front that is easy to read from the listening position and a very fine volume control. Every detail has been considered. You can optionally place Darkz Resonance Control resonance dampers from Ansuz Acoustics under the Aavik U-580 in case you don't have an anti-resonance Hi-Fi furniture. If you have multiple Aavik Acoustics devices, these can be stacked using ceramic or titanium spheres, on which an Ansuz Acoustics Darkz Resonator can then be placed. This way multiple devices take up minimal space without influencing each other through vibrations. The technical design is highly advanced and uses various techniques from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. The Aavik U-580 features extensive Noise Reduction, the most comprehensive Noise Reduction of all models in the U-Series. The Aavik U-580 has no less than 72 Active Tesla Coils and 232 Active Square Tesla Coils. These Tesla Coils extract various electromagnetic radiation from the air and inside the enclosure, ensuring a pure and undistorted music signal within the amplifier. There are also 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils in the Aavik U-580. The Tesla Coils are driven by no less than 11 Analog Dither Circuits. Power consumption is very favorable. The Aavik U-580 consumes only 0.5 watts in standby, and in music mode the consumption is 50 watts idle. The Aavik U-580 contains a high-quality DAC. The DAC supports PCM formats up to 32-bit/192kHz and the USB input can also support DSD formats up to DSD128. Additionally, the DAC in the Aavik U-580 has an MQA decoder on board. Technically, Aavik Acoustics amplifiers are the crème de la crème of digital amplifiers, and that's not all. In our opinion, they are the first-class D amplifiers with a 100% analog character without a trace of harshness, and which do not cause listening fatigue even after extended listening sessions.

Sound : What we are used to from Class D amplifiers is tight dynamics, and a neutral and rhythmic sound. Yet there is often something missing in terms of musicality, something that not only says "wow, that sounds impressive," but also something that invites you to keep listening. Once you get used to a certain sound, the "wow factor" disappears, and what must remain is music, because that is what it is all about after all. The amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are to date the first Class D amplifiers where we feel that we are not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but also very musical and delivers a captivating, intriguing and above all beautiful sound. The Aavik U-580 first and foremost simply sounds very fine. Relaxed, spatial, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very clearly audible and the atmosphere is well conveyed to the listener. The Aavik U-580 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets you hear everything, but there is also a certain peace & comfort to the sound. The sound is therefore perfectly balanced and the overall picture simply works. In terms of dynamics, the Aavik U-580 may well go further than most Class A (tube) amplifiers, but that is not ultimately what it is all about. It is about sound quality, and the extent to which an amplifier is able to convey emotions. And conveying emotions is where Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik U-580 is pure emotion. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik Acoustics range and the Aavik U-580 is by far the most high-end member of the family.
