General: Excellently built and very analog-sounding digital amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics from Denmark. The Aavik U-580 is the top model of the U-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The Aavik U-580 is the model above the U-180 and U-280 from Aavik Acoustics.

Technology: The highly advanced technology in Aavik amplifiers is unique. Aavik makes digital amplifiers with an analog heart. The waveform is modulated with a sine wave, delivering much finer reproduction than triangle modulation. The damping is high and control over the speakers is optimal. The power supply is very generously dimensioned and always calculated for the task at hand. Another important aspect is the natural enclosure. The Aavik U-580 enclosure is the most unique of all models in Aavik Acoustics' U-Series. The enclosure itself is made from a natural composite material, not hard and cold aluminium. On top you'll find a beautiful titanium cross which, besides looking good, also controls the resonance of the cabinet, resulting in a more natural and somewhat warmer sound than models without the titanium 'X' built into the top panel. What sets the Aavik U-580 apart from the other U-Series models is that the interior of the U-580 is made of solid copper, which reduces hysteresis to an absolute minimum. Sonically, this ensures the music has more energy, power and liveliness. Aavik Acoustics has invested considerable effort in making the enclosure resonance-free, and this translates directly into sound quality. The Aavik U-580 features a very generous dimmable display on the front that reads well from the listening position and a very fine volume control. Everything has been thought of. You can optionally place Darkz Resonance Control resonance dampers from Ansuz Acoustics under the Aavik U-580 if you don't have an anti-resonance HiFi cabinet. If you have multiple Aavik Acoustics devices, these can be stacked using ceramic or titanium balls, with an Ansuz Acoustics Darkz Resonator placed on top. This way multiple devices take up minimal space without affecting each other through vibrations. The technical design is very advanced and utilizes various techniques from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. The Aavik U-580 features extensive Noise Reduction, the most extensive Noise Reduction of all models in the U-Series. The Aavik U-580 boasts no fewer than 72 Active Tesla Coils and 232 Active Square Tesla Coils. These Tesla Coils extract various electromagnetic radiation from the air and inside the enclosure, ensuring a pure and undistorted music signal within the amplifier. The Aavik U-580 also contains 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils. The Tesla Coils are driven by no fewer than 11 Analog Dither Circuits. Power consumption is very favorable. The Aavik U-580 consumes only 0.5 watts in standby, and in music mode consumption is 50 watts idle. The Aavik U-580 features a high-quality DAC. The DAC supports PCM formats up to 32bit/192kHz and the USB input can also support DSD formats up to DSD128; additionally, the DAC in the Aavik U-580 has an MQA decoder on board. Technically, Aavik Acoustics amplifiers are the crème de la crème of digital amplifiers, and that's not all. According to us, they are the first class D amplifiers with 100% analog character without a trace of harshness, and where even after prolonged listening there is no listening fatigue.

Sound: What we are accustomed to from Class D amplifiers is tight dynamics and a neutral, rhythmic sound. Yet there is often something missing in musicality, something that not only says "wow, that sounds impressive" but also invites you to keep listening. After a while, once you get used to a certain sound, the "wow factor" disappears, and what must remain is music, because that is what it is all about. Aavik Acoustics amplifiers are so far the first Class D amplifiers where we have the feeling that we are not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but also something that is highly musical and delivers a captivating, intriguing and, above all, beautiful sound. The Aavik U-580 first and foremost simply sounds wonderful. Relaxed, spatial, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very clearly audible and the atmosphere is well conveyed to the listener. The Aavik U-580 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets you hear everything, but there is also a certain calm and comfort to the sound. The sound is therefore perfectly balanced and the overall picture simply works. Dynamically speaking, the Aavik U-580 may well surpass most Class A (Tube) amplifiers, but that is not ultimately what it is all about. It is about sound quality and the extent to which an amplifier is able to convey emotions. And conveying emotions is where Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik U-580 is pure emotion. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik Acoustics range and the Aavik U-580 is by far the most premium member of the family.

Conclusion: the Aavik Acoustics U-580 is a unique integrated amplifier with generous power output (2x300 Watts continuous) and a formidable built-in DAC and fantastic sound quality. The Aavik U-580 sounds by far the most detailed, defined, organic and spatial of the U-Series. The operation is very simple and beautifully executed, the format is compact and the weight is easy to handle. We know of no other amplifier with so much power in such a compact, light and especially beautiful enclosure that sounds so incredibly good. Welcome to the musical and emotional world of Aavik Acoustics.

Other Aavik Acoustics amplifiers from the U-Series: The other amplifiers from the U-Series of Aavik Acoustics, the U-180 and the U-280, are built according to the same principle. The power of all amplifiers in the U-Series of Aavik Acoustics is the same. The differences lie in the construction of the cabinet and the amount of noise reduction through Tesla Coils. In terms of sound, moving from the Aavik U-180 to the U-280 you step forward in the areas of definition, spatiality and detail. Moving from the U-280 to the U-580 you take another step further in these areas. The size of the enclosure of all amplifiers in the U-Series is the same.
