General : The Aavik U-280 is a powerful, compact and versatile amplifier with built-in D/A Converter. Made in Denmark. This Aavik U-280 has been updated by us to the latest amplifier software, and the internal DAC has been provided with the latest firmware.

Technical : Although the Aavik U-280 is compact and lightweight (less than 9kg), it is a very powerful and analog-sounding amplifier with a high-quality DAC on board. With its 2 x 300 Watts at 8 Ohm and even 2 x 600 Watts at 4 Ohm, there are practically no speakers on the market that cannot be driven by the Aavik U-280. The U-280 takes on the task of 3 devices, the D/A Converter, the preamplifier and the power amplifier. All you need to do is connect a digital source to one of the digital inputs (Coax BNC, Toslink Optical or USB-B) and enjoy. Analog inputs are also available for phono preamplifiers or CD players without digital outputs. There is also a set of pre outputs for subwoofers or, for example, headphone amplifiers. The power supply used is a very efficient resonant mode power supply with a very low noise floor. This noise floor is further reduced by the noise cancelling techniques that Aavik borrows from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. There are 72 Active Tesla Coils, 160 Active Square Tesla Coils, 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils and 8 Analog Dither Circuitry built into the U-280. By reducing noise, the background becomes quieter, blacker and deeper, and removes an 'edge' around the performers in the recording, allowing more air and space between everything in the soundstage. To optimally benefit from the Aavik U-280, it is recommended to place it on a set of perfectly matching Ansuz Acoustics Darkz isolators. The DAC supports PCM formats up to 32bit/192kHz and the USB input can also support DSD formats up to DSD128, furthermore the DAC in the Aavik U-280 has an MQA decoder on board. Finally, the display is noteworthy, it is a large red dot display which is readable from practically any distance. This display can be fully dimmed, but once low in intensity, it is not an annoying sight, even in a room with dimmed lighting.

Sound : What we are used to from class D amplifiers is tight dynamics, and a neutral and rhythmic sound. Yet there is often something missing in musicality, something that not only says: "wow, that sounds impressive", but also something that invites you to keep listening. After a while, once you get used to a certain sound, the "wow factor" is gone, what should remain is music, because that's what it's all about. The amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are class D amplifiers where we feel that we are not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but also very musical and delivers a captivating, intriguing and above all beautiful sound. The Aavik U-280 first and foremost sounds really nice. Relaxed, spatial, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very well audible and the atmosphere is well conveyed to the listener. But there is also drive, life and soul to be found in the music playback. The Aavik U-280 sounds transparent, dynamic and lets you hear everything, but there is also a certain peace & comfort over the sound. The sound is therefore excellent in balance and the overall picture simply works.
