General: Superbly built and very analogue-sounding digital amplifier from Aavik Acoustics in Denmark. The Aavik I-580 is the top model of the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The Aavik I-580 is the model above the I-180 and the I-280 from Aavik Acoustics.

Technology : The very advanced technology used in Aavik amplifiers is unique. Aavik Acoustics makes digital amplifiers with an analog heart. The waveform is modulated with a sine wave, which results in a much finer reproduction than triangle modulation. The damping is high and control over the loudspeakers is optimal. The power supply is very generously oversized and always calculated to perfection. Another important aspect is the natural enclosure. The enclosure of the Aavik I-580 is the most unique of all models in the I-Series from Aavik Acoustics. The enclosure itself is made of a natural composite material, so no hard and cold aluminium. On the top you will find a beautiful titanium cross which, besides looking good, also controls the resonance of the chassis, resulting in a more natural and slightly warmer sound than the models without the titanium 'X' incorporated in the top plate. What also makes the Aavik I-580 stand out from the other models in the U-Series is that the inside of the I-580 is made of solid copper, which reduces hysteresis to an absolute minimum; sonically, this means the music has more energy, power and vividness. Aavik Acoustics has put a lot of work into the resonance freedom of the enclosure, and this translates directly into sound quality. The Aavik I-580 has a very generous dimmable display on the front that is easy to read from the listening position, and a very pleasant volume control. Everything has been thought of. Under the Aavik I-580 you can optionally place Darkz Resonance Control resonance dampers from Ansuz Acoustics under the amplifier if you do not have an anti-resonance Hi-Fi cabinet. If you have multiple Aavik Acoustics devices, they can be stacked by means of ceramic or titanium balls, on which a Darkz Resonator from Ansuz Acoustics can then be placed. In this way, multiple devices take up minimal space without influencing each other through vibrations. The technical construction is very advanced and makes use of various technologies from sister brand Ansuz Acoustics. For example, the Aavik I-580 contains extensive Noise Reduction, the most extensive Noise Reduction of all models in the I-Series. The Aavik I-580 has no fewer than 72 Active Tesla Coils and 240 Active Square Tesla Coils. These Tesla Coils extract various electromagnetic radiation from the air and from the enclosure, and ensure an uncontaminated and undistorted music signal inside the amplifier. There are also 4 Anti Aerial Resonance Coils in the Aavik I-580. The digital electronics have no fewer than 11 Analog Dither Circuits. Power consumption is very favourable. The Aavik I-580 consumes only 0.5 watts in standby, and in music mode consumption is 50 watts idle. Technically, the amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are the crème de la crème among digital amplifiers, and not only that. In our opinion, they are the first class D amplifiers with a 100% analog character, without a trace of harshness, and without causing listening fatigue even after long listening sessions.

Sound : What we are used to from class D amplifiers is tight dynamics and a neutral, rhythmic sound. Yet there is often a lack of musicality, something that does not just say: "wow, that sounds impressive”, but also something that invites you to keep listening. At some point, after getting used to a certain sound, the "wow factor” has disappeared, and what should remain is music, because that is what it is all about in the end. The amplifiers from Aavik Acoustics are so far the first class D amplifiers where we feel that we are not only listening to something that sounds technically optimal, but that is also very musical and gives a fascinating, intriguing and, above all, beautiful sound. The Aavik I-580 first of all simply sounds very pleasant. Relaxed, spacious, and an enormous 3D bubble. The space in which the performers play is very clearly audible and the atmosphere is conveyed well to the listener. The Aavik I-580 sounds transparent, dynamic and reveals everything, but there is also a certain calm & comfort over the sound. The sound is therefore perfectly balanced and the overall picture simply adds up. Dynamically speaking, the Aavik I-580 perhaps goes further than most class A (tube) amplifiers, but that is not what it ultimately comes down to. It is about sound quality, and to what extent an amplifier is capable of conveying emotions. And conveying emotions is where the Aavik amplifiers excel. This Aavik I-580 is pure emotion. We are very enthusiastic about the entire Aavik Acoustics range, and the Aavik I-580 is by far the most high-quality member of the family.

Conclusion : the Aavik Acoustics I-580 is a unique integrated amplifier with generous output power (2x300 Watt continuous) and fantastic sound quality. The Aavik I-580 sounds by far the most detailed, defined, organic and spacious of the I-Series. Operation is very simple and wonderfully smooth, the size is compact and the weight is easy to handle. We do not know of another amplifier with so much power in such a compact, light and, above all, beautiful housing that sounds so incredibly good.
